Referrals for home medical equipment (DME / HME) If your patient has existing equipment from another company, they may or may not be able to keep it. Each non-winning provider has the option of “grandfathering” their patients. This means that they may keep whomever they have on service as long as the patient is notified and approves of it. The non winning companies also have the option to terminate service and send those patients to contracted suppliers. Supplies If device your patient uses requires replacement supplies they will need to be referred to a contacted company for future refills after January 1, 2011. This would include CPAP & BiPAP masks, enteral nutrition formula, etc.
Note: There are 10 areas of the country included in round 1.2 of this program. Each area is referred to as a Competitive Bidding Area, or CBA. We are in the Riverside – San Bernardino – Ontario CBA. This area includes small portions of some neighboring counties. We can identify your patients eligibility for the program with their home zip code.
