How To Pay For It - Insurance |
|
For most people insurance pays for their power chair or scooter. Many others opt to purchase or finance their power chair. At Diamond we accept nearly all health insurances, all credit cards and can arrange financing for you.
Below are the most common health insurance options, and their coverage:
Medicare Medicare requires that the patient have been examined by their physician for a power chair and that they have a mobility limitation that interferes with their activities of daily living such as: toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming, and bathing in customary locations in the home. These are only the basics. Contact our mobility specialists to discuss your particular situation.
Medi-CAL Under the Medi-Cal system scooters and power chairs may be covered when indicated by your physician. Once prescribed your physician completes a document that we forward, along with your medical records, to Medi-Cal. Once there it is reviewed through their Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) procedure. This process can take from 15-60 days. Upon approval your chair is delivered.
PPO & HMO If you have a PPO or HMO (including Medicare Advantage plans) you will typically go through their authorization process. This begins with your physician’s prescription. Generally a case manager will review your medical records and make a determination of coverage. When approved an authorization is issued by the case manager. Upon receipt of the authorization we can deliver the chair to you.
