Patient Lifts & Barton Chairs

A lift that helps you move from bed to a chair, and a chair built for harder transfers. We bring it to your home and set it up across Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties — and we stay until someone in the house can work it.

Will insurance cover it?

Medicare and most plans cover a patient lift when your doctor documents that you cannot transfer — even with help — without one. A Barton chair is checked against your plan separately. We tell you what's covered before anything is delivered. Nothing here is a guarantee.

Billing & insurance →

How fast can I get it?

These come to your home. We schedule a delivery and set the lift up once we have the order from your doctor. We'll call you to pick a time. Pickup at the office is not the usual path — this equipment is heavy.

What will I owe?

We tell you before delivery, not after. If there's a copay or a deductible on the lift, the sling, or a Barton chair, you'll hear it from us on the phone first.

What we carry

The usual order is a floor lift — hydraulic or electric, Hoyer-style — for moving you between the bed and a chair.

Slings that go with the lift. They're sized to you. They wear. Call us when you need another.

A Barton chair, when the transfer is more complex — a specialty transfer chair, sometimes used for procedures or showering, including bariatric transfers. If that's what's on the order, we'll tell you. We do not list a model on this page.

This page is not recliner lift chairs (the kind that stand you up). It is not a ceiling lift. It is not a stair lift.

Do I own or rent this equipment?

Plans do not all treat a lift the same way. We check yours and tell you before we deliver.

Medicare usually bills a patient lift as a capped rental. You rent it for 13 months. Once those months are paid, the lift is yours and you are responsible for it.

Other insurers may purchase the lift for you up front. In that case it is yours from the start.

The sling is separate either way. Slings are supplies. They are not a rental. Call us when you need another.

A Barton chair is different. Coverage varies widely by plan. We do not apply the 13-month lift rule to a Barton chair. We check your plan and tell you.

What you'll pay. You're responsible for any copay or deductible your plan doesn't cover. We tell you that on the phone first. If your plan buys the lift, you still call us for slings and for service questions during office hours.

What to expect at delivery & setup

A technician brings the lift to your home at a scheduled time. They set it up beside the bed, fit the sling, and show someone in the house how to use it. They stay until that person can run a transfer.

This is not a shipped box and it is not a same-day oxygen visit. We'll call you to pick a window once the order is in. Have the path from the door to the bedroom clear so they can roll the lift in.

If a Barton chair is on the order, they bring that too and walk you through it the same visit. Call (800) 977-3002 if you need to change the appointment.

Before we arrive

Clear floor space beside the bed so the lift can roll in. Check that the doorway is wide enough. Have a firm chair or wheelchair the lift can approach. If the lift is electric, have an outlet nearby. Pets out of the way while we are in the house.

If something goes wrong

Need help with your patient lift or Barton chair?

Call (800) 977-3002 Mon–Thu 8:00–5:00, Fri 7:00–4:00 Pacific

Office hours, not the 24/7 oxygen line. If the lift won't pump or raise, a caster is stuck, or an electric lift won't hold a charge, call (800) 977-3002 during the hours above. If a sling is torn or the stitching is coming apart, stop using it and call us the same day — don't keep transferring in a torn sling. For a replacement sling, call the same number. Phone is faster than email for equipment problems. We are not a 24/7 lift desk.

  • Something is broken or not working right → call, don't email. Phone is faster for equipment problems.
  • You need supplies → Request resupply

Common questions about patient lifts & Barton chairs

Do I need a prescription for a patient lift?

Yes. We need an order from your doctor. If you don't have one yet, call us at (800) 977-3002 and we'll request it from your doctor's office.

How quickly can I get a lift?

We schedule a home delivery and setup once we have the order. We'll call you to pick a time. These are heavy — they do not ship the way a nebulizer does, and pickup at the office is not the usual path.

Will Medicare pay for it?

Usually, when your doctor documents that you cannot transfer — even with help from a caregiver — without a lift. That's what we request from your doctor's office. This applies to Medicare and to most other insurance. A Barton chair is checked separately. If there's any issue with your coverage, our team will be in touch to talk it through with you. Nothing here is a guarantee.

Do I own the lift or rent it?

It depends on your plan. Medicare usually rents a patient lift for 13 months; after those months are paid, the lift is yours. Other plans may purchase it from the start. Slings are supplies — call us when you need another. A Barton chair does not follow that 13-month rule; we check the plan. See “Do I own or rent this equipment?” above.

What is a Barton chair?

A specialty transfer chair for more complex moves — bed to chair, procedure, or shower — including some bariatric transfers. It is not a recliner lift chair and it is not a Hoyer lift. If one is on your order, we check your plan and tell you; coverage varies. We do not list a model on this page.

Who operates the lift?

Someone in the house. After we set the lift up, we show a caregiver or family member how to run it. The patient does not operate a floor lift alone.

What about slings?

The sling is sized to you and it is a supply, not part of the rental. They wear. Call us when you need another. If a sling is torn, stop using it and call the same day.

Do you provide stair lifts?

No. This page is a floor lift and, when ordered, a Barton chair. It is not a stair lift and it is not a permanent home modification. Medicare generally does not cover those. Call us if that's what you were looking for — we will not sell you a stair lift from this page.

What if it won't lift?

Stop the transfer. If the lift won't pump or raise, or an electric lift won't hold a charge, call (800) 977-3002 during office hours. If a sling is torn or the stitching is coming apart, stop using it and call the same day. Don't keep transferring in a torn sling.
